Statement Regarding the Tragic Humanitarian Situation in Rukban Camp

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

All praise be to Allah and blessings and peace be upon His Prophet, his kinsfolk, and companions.

The humanitarian situation of the displaced Syrian people continues to be extremely difficult, putting the world on the test of the sincerity of its claim to protect human rights, preserve human lives, and ensure equality among them in respect of these rights.

Rukban camp represents a stark picture of the violation of these rights as the displaced people, whose number amounts to thousands, have not obtained the minimum degree of their needs of privacy, protection, food, health, and education for years. And in the light of what is happening, the Islamic Council makes the following remarks:

1)  The catastrophe that befalls the residents of this camp today of deliberate starvation and thirst under very high temperatures is the responsibility of the ruling gang in Damascus first and foremost, and the Iranian sectarian treacherous militias and other criminals who displaced them from their homes, which caused this tragedy to happen to the Syrian people.

2)  The United Nations and its organizations working in the region, which take funds from donors, bear additional responsibility in the failure of delivering the funds to the beneficiaries, in addition to delivering these funds to the criminal gang most often. It is imperative to channel these funds to protect the rights of these vulnerable women and children, the rights which these organizations keep claiming to defend day and night. Governments of the countries on whose borders these camps are situated are also responsible.

3)  It is the duty of influencers, capital owners, and relief organizations in the whole Ummah to initiate a definitive solution to this problem and to do their humanitarian duty towards the displaced.

In conclusion, we emphasize that all camps inside and outside Syria are in an unacceptable situation, and it is imperative to return the displaced and deported people to their homes after the removal of this gang and its intelligence apparatus, in order to protect Syria from challenges arising from demographic change, to maintain the identity of the Syrian people, and to take into account the social situation that results from staying in these camps for long periods. We supplicate Allah to hasten the relief of our imprisoned brothers and to return them rewarded and aided to their homes, and Praise be to Allah, Lord of all creation.
