Statement on Blocking Aid to Northern Syria through Border Crossings

In the name of Allah the Merciful

Praise be to Allah, and peace and prayers be upon the master of messengers and all his family and companions.

The different forms of aggression perpetrated by the Russian occupation and its criminal subordinate, Bashar al-Assad, against our nation and people in Syria are no longer a secret, especially on the liberated north of Syria. The Russian occupation and its lackeys have not only bombed and displaced defenceless civilian populations by bombing their schools and hospitals, which were already scarce and lacking resources, but they also renew their attempts to block the United Nations assistance delivered to northern Syria through Turkey and  divert it to the Syrian regime, making it another tool for suppressing our people and compounding their suffering and agony.

The Syrian Islamic Council, as it follows up these threats, states the following:

First: The Russian presence on our land is a fully-fledged iniquitous occupation. Such occupation cannot be entrusted with the interests of our people and should not be given the opportunity for further oppression and humiliation on our nation and people.

Second: The Syrian regime has lost legitimacy since the first days of the revolution as it has been rejected and revolted against by all of its components. The recent electoral play does not grant it any credibility or legitimacy as this puppet show didn’t even deceive the naive ones not to mention the sane.

This regime does not care about the suffering and agony of the Syrian people. It will take such aid as another way to strengthen its militias and criminals in order to increase its aggression and crimes against our people and nation. Such a regime cannot be entrusted with the daily bread of the Syrian people and it is unable to manage it. Evidence to this is the situation of our people living in the areas of its control in Damascus, Homs, Hama and Aleppo among other Syrian cities which lack the slightest living necessities of food, medicine and fuel.

Third: The international community must not enable the Russian occupation to veto the continuation of aid through Turkey, as food and medicine are not a subject for bargaining. Such an occupation shouldn’t be enabled to use this as a tool for blackmail or to achieve its objectives of legitimizing and reinstatement of the regime.

Fourth: We expect all friendly states and free societies to work to alleviate the suffering of our people and put an end to the crimes of the Assad, his masters and allies by pushing for a solution that will enable the Syrian people to determine their own destiny and future away from the control of this criminal junta.

Finally, we express our thanks and appreciation to all friends of the Syrian people who stood and continue to stand with us and offer all forms of aid and means of safety.

[And say (unto them): Act! Allah will behold your actions, and (so will) His messenger and the believers, and ye will be brought back to the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, and He will tell you what ye used to do.] (Qur’an 9:105)
